SPARC uses the agile SCRUM methodology approach to software development and testing. As part of this methodology, QA testers are embedded within software development teams and work side-by-side with Software Developers to ensure the quality of the code that is being delivered by the development teams.
During the development) phase, the QA Tester creates test cases and test scripts that provide functional test coverage of the user stories that are being worked by their development team. Testers conduct both manual and automated testing alongside Software Developers throughout the development iteration. Defects that are found by the QA Tester during the development iteration are captured as tasks against specific work items. The QA Tester then works closely with the Software Developers to resolve the defect and to re-execute the test case once the code has been updated. Defects found within the current iteration are pushed to be resolved within the current iteration. This process of embedding the QA Tester within the development team and testing code as it’s delivered (as opposed to after) creates a continuous feedback loop within the team, and helps to ensure the delivery of quality code by the end of each development iteration.
