How to play
- Set the scene: everyone is heading to a desert island for a year, and food, water and shelter are already covered.
- Ask each person to choose three items to bring: one book, one song or album, and one object of their choice.
- Give two minutes to decide, then go around and have each person share their picks with a sentence on why.
- Invite one or two follow-up questions after each turn, keeping the pace light.
- Wrap up by asking the group which pick they would most like to borrow on the island.
Tips
- For a big group, run it in breakout rooms of four and ask each room to report its most surprising pick.
- Keep the categories open, so a person who does not read much can pick a podcast, game or recipe instead.
Variations
- Team island: the whole group must agree on just five items for everyone, which turns it into a consensus challenge.
- Work island: pick one tool, one habit and one snack you would need to do your job from a beach hut.
