How to play
- Ask everyone to pick up one object they can reach without leaving their seat.
- Give ten seconds to choose, which keeps it spontaneous and stops people from overthinking.
- Take turns holding the object up and sharing its story in about a minute: where it came from and why it is there.
- Allow one quick question from the group after each share.
- Finish by asking which object surprised people most.
Tips
- In a room, people can use something from a bag or a photo on their phone.
- Make clear that any ordinary object works; a pen with a funny story is just as good as a souvenir.
Variations
- Theme it: the oldest thing you can reach, the most useful thing, or something that makes you smile.
- Mystery object: describe it first without showing it and let the group guess what it is.
