Draw, Write, Pass
Each player writes a phrase, the next draws it, the next describes the drawing, and the chain keeps going until the funny reveal.
- Time
- 15 to 25 minutes
- People
- 5 to 12
- Where
- In person or Virtual
- You need
- a small stack of paper or a booklet per player, pens
How to play
- Give each player a stack of six to eight small sheets stapled into a booklet, or a slide column in a shared deck online.
- Everyone writes a short, fun phrase on the first page, like a penguin learning to skate.
- Pass the booklets one person to the left; each player looks only at the last page and draws that phrase on the next page.
- Pass again; the next player looks only at the drawing and writes what they think it shows.
- Keep alternating between drawing and writing, always folding back or hiding earlier pages, until the booklets return to their owners.
- Take turns flipping through each booklet aloud to see how the phrase changed along the way.
Tips
- Give one minute per page so drawings stay quick and nobody worries about quality.
- Online, have each player move one column to the right in the shared deck after every round.
Variations
- Team theme: start every booklet with a phrase about your workplace or a recent project.
- Short chains: in groups over 12, split into circles of six so booklets come back faster.
