Random Object Pitch
Teams get two unrelated objects and invent a new product that combines them, then deliver a one-minute pitch to win the group's vote.
- Time
- 15 to 25 minutes
- People
- 4 to 30
- Where
- In person or Virtual
- You need
- a bag of random objects or a list of object names, timer
How to play
- Prepare pairs of everyday objects, such as a stapler and a spoon or a backpack and a lamp.
- Split into teams of two to four and give each team one pair at random.
- Allow ten minutes for teams to invent a product that combines both objects, with a name, a target user and a slogan.
- Each team pitches its product in one minute, with optional sketches or a quick demo.
- Everyone votes for the best product, excluding their own team, and the winner gets bragging rights.
- Wrap up by asking which idea could actually work, which ties creative play to real brainstorming.
Tips
- On a video call, ask each team member to grab one object from their desk and combine those instead.
- Let a different person present each round so speaking duty is shared, but never force a shy member to pitch.
Variations
- Three-object round: add a third object for an advanced challenge.
- Customer twist: assign each team a surprising customer, such as a pirate crew or a busy librarian.
