Speed Chats
Pairs chat for three minutes on a set prompt, then rotate to a new partner, so everyone meets several people in one session.

- In person or Virtual
- You need
- list of chat prompts, timer or bell
How to play
- Prepare one prompt per round, such as what is a skill you picked up recently or what made you laugh this week.
- In a room, set up two rows of chairs facing each other; online, use random breakout rooms of two.
- Announce the prompt and start a three-minute timer, reminding pairs to split the time evenly.
- When the timer ends, one row shifts one seat to the left, or the host reshuffles the breakout rooms.
- Run four to six rounds with a fresh prompt each time.
- Close by asking a few people to share one thing they learned about someone new.
Tips
- Display the prompt on screen or a card so nobody has to remember it under pressure.
- Put an odd person into a trio rather than leaving them out of a round.
- Let people swap a prompt for their own question if it does not suit them.
Variations
- Work focus: use prompts about how each person likes to receive feedback or plan their day.
- Table rotation: groups of four chat at tables and two people move to a new table each round.
