How to play
- Give everyone two minutes to think of two true facts about themselves and one believable fact that is not true.
- Ask the first player to say all three statements aloud in any order, without pausing or hinting at the invented one.
- Let the group ask up to two quick questions, then everyone votes on which statement they think is the lie.
- On a video call, collect votes with a show of fingers, the chat box or emoji reactions.
- The player reveals the lie and tells the short story behind one of the true facts.
- Move to the next player until everyone has had a turn, keeping each turn to about one minute.
Tips
- Suggest light topics such as hobbies, travel, food or odd skills so nobody feels pushed to share something personal.
- Let people pass or play as a pair if they need more time to think.
- For groups over 12, split into smaller circles so each turn stays short and everyone gets a go.
Variations
- Two Lies and a Truth: flip the ratio so the group hunts for the single true statement.
- Theme round: all three statements must be about a first job, a trip or a childhood hobby.
